Vendakka Ularth/ Okra /Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti
Vendakka Ularth or Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti is a simple side dish for rice. Okra, also known as Lady’s Finger, Bhindi, Vendakka etc. has amazing health benefits. There are innumerable ways to prepare Okra and due to its slimy texture, most people hate this amazing vegetable. Well, the best way to get rid of it is by stir fry method. Bhindi or Vendakka is low in carb and calories and high in potassium, Calcium, Folate, Vitamins and fiber. Even more reasons to add them to your diet.
Mezhukkupuratti or stir fry is a healthy way to prepare vegetables. Most vegetables can be prepared this way; check recipes like Beans mezhukkupuratti, Kaya stir fry, Kovakka mezhukkupuratti, Achinga stir fry, Beans Mezhukkupuratti, chena, koorkka, cheru payar/ Mung Beans and Vanpayar / Red cowpeas. Vendakka ularth is easy to prepare and requires only few ingredients. Although there are different ways to prepare Vendakka Ularth, this is my favourite recipe. Pepper and Garam Masala pep up the dish and make it mildly spicy and delicious. Once you cook the Vendakka and allow to cool, the sliminess disappears.
