Crescent Rolls, Cheesy Garlic Crescent Rolls

Crescent Rolls, perfectly soft, homemade, warm, cheesy Garlic Crescent Rolls is the recipe for the day. It is a perfect snack for birthday parties and an absolute favorite of kids.  Fresh and warm from the oven, it is so inviting and gets over within no time!! Like my stuffed Garlic Bread, Burger Buns, Chocolate chip cookies, Burger Patties,Vegetable Pizza, Paneer PizzaChicken Tikka Pizza, Doughnuts, Chicken Burger and Sausage Dinner rolls, this is another fantastic, tried and tested recipe that you can trust!

These Crescent rolls have the added goodness of cheese and garlic and is very appealing. Garlic is very nutritious and zest up the flavours. The next best thing is that it is quite simple and easy to prepare and requires only simple ingredients. You can involve kids while baking these rolls; just ask them to do the filling, brushing parts and you will have some very enthusiastic assistants. I always allow my kids to mould the Melting moments Cookies that is quite simple to prepare or to fill the toppings for Pizza; that way you will finish your work faster.

You can make it plain as well. But the cheesy garlicky filling takes it to another level. Yum! It is just irresistible! Sorry to spoil your carb free diet, if any, but I can’t resist sharing this fantastic recipe with you all. It is okay to indulge once in a while, especially when it is sinfully tempting soft, warm crescent rolls! Get the ingredients and we will start straight away!

Ingredients:

Plain Flour/ Maida: 3 cups (415 gms)
Powdered Sugar: 75 gms
Yeast: 1 ½ tsp
Sugar: 1 tbsp
Egg: 2 nos.
Warm Milk: 140 ml
Butter: 50 gms + 1 tbsp
Garlic cloves: 6 nos.
Oregano: 2 pinches.
Cheese (Mozzarella/ Parmesan): 30 – 40 gms
Salt: as required (approx. ½ tsp)

Method:

Keep the butter in room temperature to soften it. Measure the flour (3 cups) and keep in a wide vessel. Add enough salt and powdered sugar. In a cup add yeast (1 ½ tsp), 1 tbsp. Sugar and Luke warm Milk and mix well. Keep aside for 5 minutes. Beat the eggs (keep aside 2 tbsp from this for brushing) and add to the flour mix. Also, add the softened butter. Lastly, pour the yeast mix to the flour and gently combine to make a sticky dough. Put it onto a floured surface and knead for some time, till the dough is smooth and soft. Rub little butter in your hands and roll the dough into a smooth ball and cover nicely and keep for one hour or more, till the dough is double the size.

Punch down the dough and divide the dough into two or three equal portions. Take one portion dust with flour and flatten/ roll out into a rectangle shape with around quarter inch thickness. Now with the help of a Cutter and ruler cut into triangular shapes as shown in the picture.

Chop the garlic finely and mix with 1 tbsp. melted butter and Oregano. Spread the butter garlic mix to the flattened triangles. Cut the cheese into small pieces. Place one block of cheese on the wider part and roll it upwards gently. Place in a greased tray with the pointed side down. Keep aside for 25 – 30 minutes to rise again.

Preheat the oven to 200o c. Brush the top of the rolls with the beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven for 15 – 18 minutes till the top part turn golden brown. Take out from the oven and immediately brush the top with melted butter. Enjoy the fresh, soft and warm, cheesy garlic Crescent rolls!

Tips:

  • You can use Mozzarella / Parmesan cheese for stuffing.
  • Keep the yeast for rising in lukewarm milk or the texture will be spoiled.
  • Garlic should be chopped finely and mixed with melted butter and Oregano spice.
  • When you roll turn the tail ends down slightly to get the crescent shape.
  • The dough should be sticky when you mix and knead on floured surface to make it smooth.
  • You can also fill butter instead of cheese to get the buttery soft rolls.
